Denim on denim

The weather is doing it’s indecisive thing before summer properly starts. It’s windy and sunny at the same time; the perfect conditions to attempt a bit of denim on denim. It’s an effortless casual look just keep it light on top and darker below, and no head-to-toe spray on denim.

Orange & Pink

Orange and pink is one of those combinations that has the potential to be a total mess, but somehow manages to look so fantastic 99% of the time. As the evenings get longer here in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s hard not to think about pink jeans and orange blazers ( just me?). Take inspiration from all things summery: sunsets, tequila sunrises and traffic light popsicles.

Modern prep

Mixing bright colours with a relaxed attitude stops preppy being stuffy. It’s a cute and sunny look that still adds some polish to casual dressing. Coloured blazers, chunky knits, satchels and cuffed trousers all make a perfect preppy ensemble and don’t be afraid to add some elbow patches.

Leather skirts

A ladylike full skirt flatters almost every body. They can be hard to wear if you’re concerned about looking a little too prim and proper but a leather version gives this feminine favourite a hard and youthful edge. Pair it with a sweet knitted sweater to really make the most of the textures. There are plenty of non-leather options for budget and those who would prefer it.

(This skirt below is made from genuine Napa leather and custom made to your own measurements).

Chevron

Not just for the living room rug or awesome bedroom curtains, chevron (or zigzag as I always knew it) is a trend that shows no real signs of slowing down in it’s popularity. Less common is it’s application to fashion, though for no good reason, chevron are stripes – only better.

Everyday sparkle

Sequins are best worn during the day, they’re unexpected and glamourous, they outshine everything else. To pull it off, don’t go head to toe sparkles but combine with opposite but equally luxe fabrics such as velvet, understated leather, fine denim or silk.

Aztec

A love of all things geometric, bright and patterned overrides bad memories of Peruvian ponchos. Aztec designs are not for the light hearted (or those who play the panpipes) but put together with solid brights and modern accessories they really make for some contemporary, eclectic, bohemian awesome.

Sweatshirts (!)

In the interest of fairness I’m announcing sweatshirts here before they go live on eviekemp.com at 3pmNZ time today (so in just less than 3.5 hours time) as there is just ONE OF EACH SIZE in each design in this first run. Eek!

Printed on the snuggliest grey marle sweatshirts there is Cantankerous (sporting a navy bow) and everyone’s favourite rubbish bag ripper, Feral. They are $80NZ each with free shipping within NZ and very reasonable shipping everywhere else. Sweatshirts are unisex, labelled and soft as a baby duckling on the inside.

Excuse the hanger shots, my model is stuck sipping Singapore Slings due to ash cloud ‘issues’.

Any questions ask away!

Sizing is as follows (measured flat):

Small: 49.5 cm wide • 62 cm long

Medium: 51.5 cm wide • 62 cm long (Cantankerous the Persian only!)

Large: 55.5 cm wide • 65 cm long

Extra Large: 57 cm wide • 65 cm long
