Sale time!

28 Feb

I’m making way for new stock so having a big sale to clear the decks. All tees are now $35NZ and all singlets are only $30! There are only a couple of each in various sizes. Everything can still be sent internationally!

It was a lot cooler in my head…

27 Feb

Graphic Designer, Carolyn Sewell made and sent a hand-drawn type postcard to her parents everyday for a year.

“It was a lot cooler in my head” needs to be above my desk. But I also love all of these. Go to Carolyn’s site to see all 365. These were done during 2010, so I’m impressively slow on the catchup here. I’m always wowed with people that can stick at something for a year.

Toting tribal

27 Feb

I adore all the luxe and brightly coloured fabrics popping up in fashion from all corners of the world. Call it ethnic, tribal, boho, whatever, they look amazing. I’m not quite ready to go for head to toe (and probably never will be) but would love one of these handmade bags. The more tassels the better, 10 points for some zig zags, 20 points for bells! The perfect way to make a black jeans day amazing.

Do shop around, prices, quality and design vary a lot so you should be able to find the perfect one.

Top flats

25 Feb

I swear by Topshop shoes. Here in New Zealand I’d say the quality and comfort surpass our more expensive brands by miles and if you’ve never bought shoes from them before you should. My only complaint would be that you pretty much always want to go up one euro size when buying (so if you’re a 37, buy the 38). I always find every part of them well made from great materials, they’re comfy enough to wear to death and hard wearing enough to not die easily.

Right now I’m lusting over smart flats to take me into Autumn. I want them all but I think the blue suede ones hold a special place in my heart.

Maddie the Coonhound

24 Feb

I just had to share this link my friend Kylie showed with me. Maddieonthings.com is a blog dedicated to Maddie, standing on things. The thing is Maddie is a Coonhound, with some kind of amazing, zen-like calm and balance and she’s beautiful and stands on everything. The photos are gorgeous and available to buy as prints. I love them.

Fashion inspiration: Balloons

24 Feb

Will I ever get to an age where I stop being impressed with balloons? I doubt it.

Today is just one of those days I want to wear a Mary Katranzou dress and float above the rooftops with an inflatable, pastel bouquet.

Just hanging

22 Feb

Apartment styled by Myrica Bergqvist from Desire to Inspire

Nothing makes a room like a wall of well chosen art. I personally favour graphic posters and prints but whatever your preference the key to it looking amazing is actually getting it on the wall in the first place. Framing is an expensive business especially for larger or odd size pieces, but even with A4 and A5 sized works when faced with framing 10 – 20 separate pictures it pretty much always breaks the budget. Lately I’ve been looking forlornly at a stack of prints and pictures, the bare walls in my studio and ‘frameless’ hanging options. I like the idea of just going for it and washi taping up a wall full like Miss Vu but am conscious of ruining a print I might want to frame later. I love the use of trouser hangers (from Apartment Therapy) to hang larger pieces, much sleeker and unexpected than the old bulldog clips. The use of minimalist shelves to house an ever changing collection and display of art in Lisa Congdon’s studio (from SF Girl by Bay) seems like a pretty ideal solution. To make a feature of all those little postcards and doodles floating around your desk you could try using a wire with small clips or pegs. If you really like order the use of clipboards to display inspiration, swatches and small prints works well.

Best of all, just go for it, put up what you can, however you can. It will add personality, creativity and inspiration to your space no matter how it’s done.

Forty Licks

Puppy Licks!

Judge me if you like, but I really want to dress up a hipster pooch in this Rolling Stones wool hoodie. It’s official merch and costs $90.
